The Secret Plait (SP) Polo Breastplate is the only one of its kind, on the market. I designed this for its elegance and simplicity. I like to be different from everyone else, less is always more and this polo breastplate is EXACTLY that!

The Secret Plait (SP) polo breastplate is the only one of its kind, on the market. I can guarantee that! What started out as an obsession of mine, for anything plaited, quickly turned into my one of my favourite creations. After 6 months on the work bench and just life, it finally made it to the field.

Trial and tested by the one and only Lucy Grills. "It's been on everything from the breakers, to the good ones. It fits everything. Its movement throughout the chest (the plaited section) sits better on a different range of horses, because it can mould differently to each one. It's not one rigid piece of leather, the secret plait allows free movement and it's not cutting into their neck, it moulds to it."

For true representation of the dark Havana leather colour, please refer to the first photo of it on the grey horse. Leather is extremely hard to photograph well.

Dimensions

We've tested these on small horses, 14hh (pictured grey horse is 14.1hh) up to big horses approx 16.3hh. See exact measurements below to give you a measurement range.

Smaller value = dimensions at the shortest hole
Larger value = dimensions at the longest hole

Product Care

The best way to take care of this breastplate is to clean and oil the back/flesh side of the secret plait (chest strap) and the straps from the breastplate to the girth regularly. This means an absolute minimum, of once a month, for a deep clean. Which includes; the old fashioned soap and a damp cloth to remove the dirt and grime, followed by adequate sun to ensure leather is dry, followed by a conditioning.
The wither strap should also be wiped and cleaned at the same time.

By doing a deep clean at least once a month and reducing the built up of dirt and sweat at the buckles and any dee rings you will get longer lasting use. Regular cleaning ensures sweat build up is kept to a minimum which will help avoid leather rot, drying and cracking of the leather and ultimately the leather snapping/breaking. Failure to meet cleaning requirements, will result in the void of warranties or insurance claims.
