About us
K Renae Leather is a Mother and Daughter premium leather goods business, founded by Kelsey Renae Rowland in 2021. Our collection is authentic and practical, suited to the Country lifestyle we know best, focusing on equestrian products and everyday carry, designed to be used and cherished for a lifetime.
The business began during a challenging season of life, when slowing down unexpectedly opened the door to something new. Leathercraft, a trade historically born from survival, became much the same for Kelsey, igniting a passion for working with her hands, a passion that shines through in each piece she creates.
In 2025, a move to Maules Creek, New South Wales, brought a natural partnership to life. Combining family strength and generations of country living, Kelsey's mother, Karen Rowland, came on board, and mother and daughter came together to build on what Kelsey had started, supported every step of the way by their partners, Shane Rowland and Michael De Laroche Souvestre.
Leather may be new to the family, but the values behind the work are not. Keep things simple, craft with intention, and stay connected to the people and lifestyle that shaped us.

Kelsey's right hand man from the very beginning of this accidental business. Her rock, her best friend, her mother, and now her business partner. Thank you for always being there. You're one of a kind.

Kelsey's amazing partner that has helped grow K Renae to the next stage. Forever repping the brand, Michael handles our operations and is the talented mind behind it all.

The builder behind the 5 star workshop. Chief gazebo strapping down expert. The one who consistently shakes his head every time he's asked, "Hey Dad, I have an idea" yet proceeds to help anyway.

The story behind the brand
The K Renae name was chosen for a number of reasons. Firstly, because it rolled off the tongue. But more importantly, it was to build a brand that is authentically her, Kelsey Renae, representing everything she had endured and was learning to become. Tough. Just like leather.
Authenticity
Authenticity is vital to how our products are designed. Each piece stays true to what it is, without excess or pretence. Not a trend, but a timeless creation. A natural beauty that doesn't need to change to fit in. It is also in the relationships we build with our customers, partnerships and trade.
Strength
All our leathergoods are made for generational use. Using premium materials, each piece is something that doesn’t just endure, but improves with age, confirming that time does not weaken it, but defines it.

Our Timeline of events
2021
The Original LOGO
11th March 2021 - our original logo was designed by myself and my talented sister, Sharlee Rowland. It started out as my initials signature, a scribbled and overlapping KR. However it was too messy for a logo, so we stretched them out to clearly see the K and the R. The rest just flowed.
2nd August 2021 - travelled with my two dogs and made products on the road while I was healing.
28th November 2021 - our first website went live.
2022
The first Saddle I made
March 2022 - attended my first big trade show: Ballarat Polocrosse Nationals.
April 2022 - made my first of approximately 180 saddles after moving back to Toowoomba from my travels. Working full time for a wholesale saddlery business while trying to make stock again after a near sell out from Ballarat Nationals.
2023
Ups and downs of life
July 2023 - featured on an ABC article about females in a male dominated industry.
August 2023 - life had other plans and a hard decision was made; to leave a job I didn't want to leave. Changes needed to happen yet again, so I made the leap and decided to take on K Renae full-time. No loans, no idea, just grit and determination.
29 August 2023 - bought my Cowboy 4500 sewing machine (I was hand sewing all K Renae products up until this moment).
2024 - 2025
Making a go of it
Mid January 2024 - packed up my life and moved from Toowoomba to Maules Creek.
2024 - 2025 - finding my feet and healing again, all while trying to grow the brand and most importantly, stock. The hardest two years in business. A slog that felt like more failure than achievement.
2025
New partnership
June 2025 - my new business partner joined: my mother Karen Rowland.
August 2025 - the Maules Creek workshop was operational. Five-star, with climate control and the ability to see at midnight. This was the game changer.
2026
The year of the Horse
January 2026 - the moment everything started to turn around. Stock was building, we had batch after batch on the work bench and working with mum was just icing on the cake.
31st July 2026 - our second and current website went live. A massive 9 or more months in the pipeline. Learning, designing and coding, one of my greatest creations yet.
