Stockwhip - Redhide 4 Plait

Redhide is an alum-tanned, drum stuffed bovine leather which gives this leather exceptional tensile strength with a smooth grain finish.

Alum-tanned is a curing process which uses aluminium sulphate and salts. While it is not water-stable and can revert to raw hide if soaked, its produces impeccable strength and flexibility. While drum stuffed is a process of treating the leather by rotating it in a large heated drum with oils and lubricants. This process ensures deep penetration of oils, giving it an increased softness and durability. These processes allow Redhide Leather, to withstand the rigours of a hard day in the yard, the mud and dust that gives it character and the lack of conditioning and care that tends to occur.

To ensure you choose the correct length, our whip lengths are measured from the total length of the thong - that being from the top of the handle to the beginning of the fall.

We have a few lengths available. However, some are subject to the length of hides available at the time.
- 4 foot 9 inches (short yard whip)
- 5 foot (long yard whip)
- 6 foot (average/most common length for horseback AND on foot)
